All Ranger Services are free. Our Rangers are limited to the amount of children they can take in any one day. Please book early to avoid disappointment. Teachers are asked to assist Kelburn Countryside staff in managing their group at all times whilst they are taking part in any booked activity.

"Hill Farm/Sheep Walk" Explore Kelburn's upland paths on this exciting walk. Designed for P7 and Secondary school pupils, this 1 and a half hour walk will talk about how our farmer looks after his sheep and manages the land. The route will follow well defined tracks and paths. *Stout footwear/ waterproof coat will be needed.
Glen Explorer Learn about the wildlife and history of one of Scotland's most beautiful natural woodlands. This walk through Kelburn's Lower Glen will include at least one environmental game to involve both pupils and teachers!
Suitable for 6-14 year olds.
Body Walk Step out on a voyage of discovery to learn how different parts of the body work when we go for a walk. Follow "Mr Muscles" Special Trail, complete a "Skeleton Jigsaw", attempt Kelburn's scientific "Puffer Challenge" and get "Brainy". Walking will never be the same again!
Suitable for 8+ years.
Sensory Trail If you dare join the Rangers and follow this trail. On your journey you will use your sense of sight, smell, hearing and touch to help you discover the secret Micro World of nature and real live Mini Beasts.
Victorian Trail (limited availability) Learn about life on a Victorian Estate. Visit the Castle and meet the servants who worked in the kitchen and ran the household.
Suitable for primary 6/7.
Craft Activities Join our potter for specialised and activities designed to give each pupil a personal reminder of their day at Kelburn. Choose from tile painting, block printing and silk painting.
Maximum of 16 people per 30 minute session.

The Natural History Sculpture Trail Fifteen bird and animal sculptures now stand as signposts to guide you along Kelburn's Natural History Trail, a forty minute walk through the romantic Glen. The fascinating sculptures have been specially made for Kelburn by renowned Ayrshire sculptor, Alan Lees.
Woodland Eco Puppet Show Meet Bertie the Badger and his friends to learn about how they live and use Kelburn’s woodlands and meadows to survive. Children will also get the chance to solve Bertie’s special Eco puzzle. Suitable for ages 4-6 years.
Kelburn's History Trail

Learn about Kelburn's History by following a traijl of informative signs, that take you round the castle, past the Glen and through into the gardens. A special leaflet on Kelburn's history compliments and adds to the information on the signs, and can be bought for 30p.

Teachers can lead school children around both the above trails without the assistance of a guide or ranger. In some places there are steps or steep parts, so regrettably they are unsuitable for wheelchairs. The Natural History Trail is ideal for all ages, the History Trail is recommended to the over tens.

Falconry Give your group the chance of a lifetime. Visit the Kelburn Falconry Centre. We provide a quality educational experience and give you and your group the chance to interact with some of the world's top predators.
Horse Riding Approved by the Trekking and Riding Society of Scotland and the British Horse Society. All riding is supervised by trained staff. Riding helmets provided for all riders. Paddock rides available for younger children. Riding and horse care packs available for secondary schools. All horse riding must be booked and paid for in advance. Wet Weather Accommodation Kelburn's modern Pavilion provides facilities to accommodate up to 100 pupils in its largest room or 50 pupils in one of the smaller rooms. These numbers include standing room. All rooms provide secure accommodation to leave bags and picnics. Wet weather accommodation must be paid for in advance.
Other facilities include:
Picnic areas, gift shop, ice-cream shop, fields for games and sports, adventure course, new indoor play area, ample free coach park, first aid room, disabled toilets, museum, kelburn story, cartoon exhibition, ranger centre.
